Unique iPad Cases Made for Personal Style

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

When you start looking for a case it can seem that there are more choices than there are iPad owners. There is an ocean of options: hard, soft, ultra-protection, ultra-stylish, colorful, classy, low-cost, high-dollar. Well, you get the idea. It helps to narrow the search by defining your criteria. For instance, right now I’m looking for a case that offers some protection but still makes it easy to remove the iPad for use, say when sitting in a coffeehouse. It must look at least as good as a naked iPad, and have some personality. Since I already own Apple’s basic iPad case, this time I’m leaning more towards form over function. Who wants another “me-too” case? It’s time for something awesome, something that makes a statement. After looking around, here is a selection of unique cases with “personality” written all over them. Oil Change for iPhone Won’t Change Much

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

If you follow the every three months/3,000 miles rule and have trouble finding a convenient place to get your oil changed, then let your iPhone find one for you with the Oil Change app . Oil Change is a location-based app that pin points nearby oil change franchises on the map and is also designed to sort the facilities by distance or price so you can comparison shop the service. Oil Change could be a rather convenient application to run if you are in unfamiliar territory and in desperate need of an oil change, but unless you don’t use a regular dealer or location for routine car maintenance, its practicality goes unnoticed.(…) Read the rest of Oil Change for iPhone Won’t Change Much All App Reviews © AppCraver.com, 2010. | Oil Change for iPhone Won’t Change Much | Best iPad Apps | Best Free Apps

Stream Video from PC to iPhone with JumiCam

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

JumiCam is an application that allows you to view webcam footage streaming from your home PC to your iPhone. It works with the Jumi Controller, which you have to install on your PC (not available for Mac yet). I was skeptical over trying JumiCam because many times apps that work with your computer over Wi-Fi fail miserably or at least require a major song and dance to get it working properly. To my amazement JumiCam was a relatively pleasant surprise. Save Betsy is Like Doodle Jump on the Farm

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Save Betsy is another version of the accelerometer-based jumping game that has become so popular for iPhone. It is akin to Doodle Jump , but unlike Doodle Jump, the leader of all such games where iTunes rankings are concerned, Save Betsy, has a seriously twisted vegan (or anti-vegan) theme, but don’t worry, no cows were harmed in the making. Save Betsy stars Betsy the cow, who is trying to avoid the grills and meat grinders that will turn her into steak. As you lead her higher and higher, you can use her special ability to rid her path of meat-making obstacles, hide her in the haystacks, and try to jump her over the moon for higher and higher scores.(…) Read the rest of Save Betsy is Like Doodle Jump on the Farm All App Reviews © AppCraver.com, 2010. | Save Betsy is Like Doodle Jump on the Farm | Best iPad Apps | Best Free Apps

Dreamscape is a Bubble Arcade Set against Dreamy Backgrounds

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Bubble popping games have been a part of iPhone culture since the beginning. In fact, there’s probably not a user out there who hasn’t stolen at least a few moments absentmindedly popping virtual bubbles between calls or emails. Typically, these types of apps are free and intended as pointless observations of finger dexterity and speed. Dreamscape , which is Barefoot Explorers’ rendition of the infamous bubble game is a bit different than the vast majority of others. To begin with, Dreamscape is a paid app. However, it incorporates some of the aspects of an arcade game, such as limited numbers of misses, time limits, level advancements, high score tracking, and bonus point and combo opportunities. For this reason, Dreamscape is a little more detailed, even if based on the most simple of premises.(…) Read the rest of Dreamscape is a Bubble Arcade Set against Dreamy Backgrounds All App Reviews © AppCraver.com, 2010. | Dreamscape is a Bubble Arcade Set against Dreamy Backgrounds | Best iPad Apps | Best Free Apps

The Lost iPhone App Files – Unify

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

An occasional series, featuring reviews of older iPhone apps which may have got lost in the crowd but are still worthy of attention. Unify hasn’t had any developer love since September 2009, making it an ideal candidate to talk about here.  It’s a puzzle game that plays a little like Tetris, in that it deals with

Alarm Clock Pro Works Like a Charm

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Amongst my favorite apps for iPhone are the truly purposeful ones that render the iPhone a convenient multi-purpose device. Granted, a good many practical utilities come as default installations but the free and paid alternatives for some of them offer a few better features. If you’re in the market for a full-featured alarm clock, Alarm Clock Pro is reminiscent of your digital bedside alarm and has an array of features that make it worth a dollar. With customizable options, such as brightness levels, optional flashlight and display color and style, Alarm Clock Pro suits all tastes. Pinball Reviews: Hi-Def Apps Sure Play a Mean Pinball

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Pinball Review — Geezer alert: I remember real pinball . I know you can still find a freestanding machine here or there in a turnpike rest-stop or an arcade. But I remember row after row of tables lining our arcades, bowling alleys, and other dens of iniquity, before the Galaga and Donkey Kong consoles stole their thunder. Over time gamers migrated to couches and desk chairs, where you could not bump, grind, and shake like an epileptic in mid-coitus. Pinball was dead, except as a casual time-waster on your dumb phone. Or was it? With smarter devices, some of the newer pinball apps are downright faithful to real pinball. Others are just out of order. To find out which is which, read on for our “best of the best” pinball reviews! Pinball HD , $2.99, 9.9/10. I don’t care of you’re seventeen or seventy: until the iPad Holo is available, there is little that could be better about this game. The physics are perfect and the graphics lavish, taking advantage of the iPad’s big HD-capable screen. The game-play is smooth and super-intuitive. Shake the pad to bump the ball, shake too much and you tilt. The game looks, feels, sounds, and responds like real pinball, on any of three photorealistic tables. Multiple players can coop-play. For full immersion, throw on a pair of 3-D glasses and flinch when the ball hits the glass. About that tenth of a point: You do have to slide both thumbs to toggle from zoom view to full-table. I hate pinball zoom views, but at least you can escape.
