Calorie Counter* Earns an A for Nutrition and Diet Apps

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

If the holidays put you in mind of watching your weight, then no doubt you’re silently counting calories at every party and family gathering. Even if you prefer to throw caution to the weight-watching wind and worry about it later, it might be nice to at least monitor your nutritional intake. The Calorie Counter* app for iPhone is a free app that counts calories, weighs intake against exercise and provides a nutritional grade for foods eaten. As an added bonus, it throws in a few additional features such as voice logging, barcode scanning, and access to community and group forums on the CalorieCount.com website.  Read the rest of Calorie Counter* Earns an A for Nutrition and Diet Apps or discover more iPhone apps . © 2011: written by Jennifer for AppCraver.

Katana Zombie Brings a Whole New Meaning to Ninja Zombies

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Picture a nice, cool and crisp fall day. You’re out with your sister having a nice chat, maybe drinking a hot cup of cocoa and enjoying the fall leaves and bam, she’s gone. But where has she gone to? To an old Japanese village of course. Oh, but the shenanigans are just getting started as Katana Zombie mixes zombies who not only want to karate chop you, but want to eat your brains as well as the ruthless commander Dr Z, the game’s evil freak scientist. Since the dawn of man, one would think we’d be sick of zombies by now. I for one, am not and probably never will be as they’re just great fun. Especially when they’re dressed in ninja garb and there are 14 levels of shooting, blowing up and slicing fun wrapped up into a wickedly fun ninja gore slasher app named Katana Zombie . Yes, I think I just coined a new genre.  Read the rest of Katana Zombie Brings a Whole New Meaning to Ninja Zombies or discover more iPhone apps . © 2011: written by gregdawson for AppCraver.

TubeHero Allows User to Pick Songs from Personal Music Library

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Music is by far one of my favorite aspects about gaming. Rhythm music games are so much fun, feature great bands and combine challenging and intense gameplay for hours of fun. One thing great about  TubeHero  is its ability to read the user’s library and utilize those songs for gameplay. This was a huge selling point for me as I’m used to buying this type of app specifically for the songs it has on it, which are usually within my library anyway. Now, I can use this app to play the songs I already have. While TubeHero is free in the App Store, the free version of this app only allows one minute of gameplay of only four songs it randomly picks from the user’s library. The full version of the game is $1.99 and syncs up to a dozen or more at one time. This is available as an in-app purchase. However, the game’s library supports over 6,000 songs in the iTunes library. Most will know this game from its Facebook counterpart, which has over 500,000 users. Time Flies with Fly Paper! for iPhone

Monday, November 28th, 2011

For those who might be tired of purposeful, challenging or mind-stimulating games and are looking for a bit of mindless interaction to support a mental checkout, Fly Paper! for iPhone fits the bill. A simple time killer that pits the player’s ability to fling sticky orange goo in an effort to take out swarms of animated flies against a countdown timer, Fly Paper! is truly mindless entertainment. The only real goal is to score as many points as possible before the timer runs out – an action that requires very little thought, just simple touch and swipe. Fly Paper! has a simple premise and pretty much fail-proof controls. Swiping from where the orange blob of fly paper starts to anywhere else on the screen will cause it to stretch out and stick to the new spot. The more flies it comes into contact with, the more points you earn. Insecticide point bonus and time boost power-ups randomly fall into view as does a buzzing bee that takes away time. The longer you can keep the timer running, the longer you can aimlessly fling goo. DocuSign Ink Stamps Secure Signature on Any Document Mobily

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Productivity apps are a dime a dozen, but there are a few good ones out there such as the get things done app  Next! and multi-page scanner Scanner Pro . And now, there’s one more, which is aptly named  DocuSign Ink  and is now my new favorite mobile document signer. For me, this is an essential app for my mobile office. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a consultant and find myself working from a lot of remote locations (coffee shops, my kitchen, road trips, etc.) and I’m always in search of the apps that help me be more productive. When I’m on the road, there is no more annoying task then having to sign a document and get it back to the client. Sure, there’s Kinkos and it serves its purpose, but the entire reason I paid for an iPhone and iPad was so that I didn’t have to stop what I was doing and go print out a document so I can put my John Hancock on it and scan or fax it back. I want to do this from my mobile devices and DocuSign Ink helps me do just that.  Read the rest of DocuSign Ink Stamps Secure Signature on Any Document Mobily or discover more iPhone apps . © 2011: written by gregdawson for AppCraver.

With Word Lubbers for iPhone, Spelling is the Only Defense

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Ahoy, word game fans! Word Lubbers by Accio has landed in the App Store and packs quite a word-forming punch. A pirate themed word game with a bit of action to boot, Word Lubbers spells big fun for wordsmiths. If the concept of an action-packed word game is intriguing, this iPhone app is worth looking in to. With three modes of play, including a Game Center supported co-op mode, Word Lubbers offers numerous variable twists compared to typical word games. Word Lubbers challenges players to hold the wall against attacking pirate ships by spelling words that reinforce their wall and spelling more words to sink the incoming ships. With spelling as your only defense, the longer a word is the better its use. Five or more-letter words provide the strongest wall reinforcement and the most offensive damage. Though based on traditional word-forming gameplay, the added element of survival spelling makes Word Lubbers unique, challenging and rewarding.
