Plan-it Halloween App Might Have Failed to Plan

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Another Halloween is fast approaching and if you have kids, this means parties. School parties, trick-or-treat parties, or just plain old Halloween shindigs take a bit of planning – especially if you have multiple children in multiple age ranges. The idea of a party planning app to keep track of it all is vastly appealing to busy moms and dads and of course, there is an app for that – but just one that we could find. Plan-it Halloween is a party planning app for iPhone with a Halloween theme, but unfortunately its form and function is a little bit scary. The Plan-it Halloween app allows users to plan and track multiple parties, create and view a party itinerary and provides tips and suggestions for activities and food with just a few taps. As a 12-year veteran room mother accustomed to throwing together several parties for several different age groups, an organized, functional app that presents itself like a combination Franklin Covey planner and Family Circle magazine would be the bomb. Plan-it Halloween is a valiant effort, but its wow factor is more like a dollar store firecracker than a bomb.  Read the rest of Plan-it Halloween App Might Have Failed to Plan or discover additional iOS applications . © 2011: written by Jennifer for AppCraver.

Ness for iPhone Provides Personalized Restaurant Recommendations

Friday, October 7th, 2011

It’s pretty much an age-old question – something like “Where should we go for dinner?” or “Where do you feel like eating?” Phrased any way you like, this daily dilemma can be solved quickly and easily if you’re willing to get a little personal with technology. Meet Ness for iPhone – a personal search engine by Ness Computing that provides restaurant recommendations based on personal preferences and tastes. It isn’t unlike Yelp or Google Places Hotpot , but it is much more attractive and has a sophisticated UI. Ness is both personal and social. The social features include the ability to connect with Facebook and Foursquare and read restaurant reviews from friends or anyone else. The personal beauty of it is that it quickly collects data provided by you to give you a tailored recommendation of places the computing engine determines you’ll like. The ratings are a calculated percentage of the chances that you will like a given eatery. Restaurants are well organized and Ness is both easy to use and pretty to look at. Another World App is Old School Action and Adventure Game

Friday, October 7th, 2011

It’s 1991, your name is Lester Knight Chaykin and you’re a physicist. Unfortunately, it’s not your day and while you’re running an experiment using a particle accelerator lighting strikes and wreaks havoc and teleports you to Another World . Fastforward to 2011, the 20th anniversary of the game, and instead of playing this title on an Amiga 500 or Apple IIGS, it is now available in full, unabated beauty on the iPad and iPhone. The cult classic, also known as Out of this World in North America and Outer World in Japan, was made popular for its cinematic gameplay style. It was innovative and ahead of its times. Luckily, it still has its swagger. Read the rest of Another World App is Old School Action and Adventure Game or discover additional iOS applications . © 2011: written by gregdawson for AppCraver.

The Legacy of Steve Jobs: Videos and Links Remembering an Icon

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Steve Jobs’ Inspiring Speech Whether they knew him personally or not, Steve Jobs was an inspiration to people all over the world. This 2005 commencement speech is one example — some say the quintessential example — of his ability to inspire a crowd and share wisdom with humility. In it he talks about getting fired from Apple in 1985, life and death. Now, following his death, this speech takes on an even deeper meaning. The passing of Apple’s Founder and recently retired CEO Steve Jobs was announced Wednesday afternoon with a simple statement that eloquently honored the innovative leader. The company also changed their homepage at Apple.com in memoriam to the visionary. We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts. Current CEO Tim Cook sent an email to all of Apple’s employees to express his thoughts and provide an email address where memories and condolences could be sent. Doodle Rams is Multiplayer King of the Mountain

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Some of my fondest childhood memories are centered around playing King of the Mountain, hill, snow mound and various other locations I was trying to conquer. Doodle Rams has brought this idea to the iPhone, but with one caveat, there must be another player on the gaming network to be able to play. This idea is very interesting in that there is no computer to play against. This works well for me as I’m not a big fan of playing against the computer. I’d rather play against a real life person for an authentic gaming experience. Sometimes the worst part of a game is the computer’s inability to think and react normally. In this aspect, Doodle Rams gets my vote of confidence.
