At one point in your life, you will find something that impresses you so much that you want to tell the entire world. Current Events Stream By on FLUD for iPad and iPhone

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Ever sat back and thought “Gee, I wish my news feed had more of a ‘Hollywood Squares’ feel to it?” Truth be told, you probably haven’t evet thought that. But, trust me, it’s much more elegant than it sounds: An ordered grid of news and social content can speed up your daily browsing by letting you skim through your favorite providers’ content without the need to open and peruse tabs individually. This media grid format isn’t new to the iOS platform, but given that FLUD has recently arrived in the Android Market it seemed a good time to reintroduce one of my favorite iOS news readers . Whether you’re pulling rss feeds on an iPhone or an iPad, the multi-thumbnail info grid — or stack depending upon the device — promised to revolutionize what you expect from your digital daily news. There’s no doubt that FLUD has a lot to offer, but a year after debuting with a flurry of accolades and awards, is this app still worth a download?  Continue reading Current Events Stream By on FLUD for iPad and iPhone and find more great apps for iPhones at AppCraver.com . © by Barbara for AppCraver, originally posted 2011.

Seven Alternative Music Player Apps for the iPhone

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Yes, a perfectly acceptable music player comes as standard on every single iPhone, however it’s not the definitive be-all-and-end-all.  There are plenty of developers out there with the talent and ability to greatly improve on Apple’s standard iPod app, you just need to know where to find them. We’ve collected together seven popular alternatives to the

American Classic Cars Guide iPhone/iPad App Review – Not Enough Vroom Vroom

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

I’ve looked at a couple of Jourist’s guide apps before, their Twentieth Century Small Arms Guide for example, which was passably interesting, however if any of their catalog is likely to impress me it’s one on classic American cars.  On my bookshelf sits a very well-thumbed copy of the Standard Guide to American Muscle Cars,

Catch the Kid App Tracks Billy the Kid in New Mexico for $10,000 Award

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Geochaching and iPhone apps, two of my favorite things, have combined to bring a bit of fun and awareness to the state of New Mexico. The Catch the Kid app, created as a campaign by the famed creatives at M&C Saatchi for the New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD), is a very large-scale scavenger hunt for outlaw Billy the Kid. With a potential $10,000 bounty for the first “posse” to present “The Kid” with an arrest warrant, this has to be one of the best summer travel ideas ever. Sure, there have been widespread crowd sourcing scavenger hunts across the country, but this app allows you to explore a major part of history as well as truly explore all the great sights and sounds New Mexico has to offer.(…) Read the rest of Catch the Kid App Tracks Billy the Kid in New Mexico for $10,000 Award (325 words)

Color Range is Next Generation Photo Editing App for iOS

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

As a photo addict, I’m always on the hunt for iPhone photo apps. The latest and greatest is Color Range , an iOS app that specializes in adding selective color effects to pics in your iPhone or iPad Photo Library. The developer promises this to be a revolutionary tool that can read the color range of a photo, automatically select and highlight colors all in real time. Straight out of the box, you’ll notice that Color Range has a lot of bells and whistles and appears to be very robust in its creative abilities. And it is, especially with its latest 2.0 update that has completely rewritten it with a new graphics engine, which allows the app to show a real-time preview of all changes to your photo masterpiece. This saves a mountain of time and makes all the other selective color apps that have to render photo effects shake in their boots.Continue reading Color Range is Next Generation Photo Editing App for iOS or visit our website for more great iphone apps . P-47 The Phantom Fighter iPhone App Review – Prepare for a Challenge

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Fans of retro arcade games may recall Avenging Spirit, the first in a catalog of Jaleco conversions by DotEmu.  We reviewed the game when it was released late last year and enjoyed its unusual body-swapping antics and challenging platform gameplay.  DotEmu has released another Jaleco conversion this month, and it’s the sideways-scrolling shooter P-47 –
