Friday, March 11th, 2011

iPhone owners are, for the most part, a sophisticated bunch. Whether it’s because their good taste in mobile devices carries over to the world of food, or because expensive data plans price out the unwashed masses, you’ll see lots of folks texting and fiddling with their iPhones at your local farmer’s market or Whole Foods. Where’s Waldo? He’s in the App Store Again

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Following up the success of the first Where’s Waldo? app, Ludio has released the sequel, Where’s Waldo in Hollywood . Seekers of the famous spectacled guy in the striped sweater will find familiar picture puzzles laden with hidden objects that put the eyes to the test. The follow up version features search scenes that are renderings of movie sets with themes paying tribute to the classic western, musicals, silent movies, and more. Where’s Waldo in Hollywood is essentially the same as the first Where’s Waldo installment, but completely different in terms of search scenes. There are two modes to play – Story Mode and versus Odlaw. Story mode is the progressive seek and find that challenges players to find Waldo, his friends, and myriad hidden objects. Players can also play against Odlaw, Waldo’s classic nemesis, in a race to find hidden pictures. Earn stars and find special hidden characters to unlock additional scenes. Click Sport is a Sports-Themed Game of Recognition

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Before the sports fans get too excited, it’s worth mentioning that Click Sport , a new matching game for iOS, has little to do with sports. It’s a game where images appear in a grid, and the player must tap all the images of a particular kind. The images could be anything—types of animals, numbers, historical figures—and the gameplay would be exactly the same. It just so happens that the developer arbitrarily decided to populate this game with little pictures of basketballs and boxing gloves. And before puzzle gamers get too excited, it’s worth mentioning that Click Sport isn’t really a puzzle game, either. There’s nothing to solve here. If the top of the screen says “Tennis,” the player must tap all the little pictures of tennis balls, and the game even tells you how many there are to tap. No one is trying to trick you.
