Got a Few Minutes? Go on an Angry Rhino Rampage

Friday, March 18th, 2011

What’s worse than an angry rhino? An angry rhino on a rampage of course – and there are many worse ways to spend .99 and a few minutes’ time than playing Angry Rhino Rampage for iPhone. A quick, simple side-scrolling action game with several delightful undertones, Angry Rhino Rampage is a solid game debut from MilkDrinkingCow. It features a rampant rhino with an attitude charging and jumping his way to higher and higher scores by destroying objects. With simple on-screen touch controls, your rhino can charge to destroy random fruit carts, jump on helicopters and poachers, and avoid dangers like cliffs, tranquilizers darts, and boulders. The farther you go, the faster this angry rhino runs until the action is frenzied enough that you lose control. Read the rest of Got a Few Minutes? Make Your Voice Sound Crazy in Real Time with Voicemod

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

There are plenty of voice modification apps in the App Store, but voicemod for iOS comes with a unique twist. Rather than recording the user’s voice in advance, then altering the recording after the fact, voicemod makes your voice sound crazy in real time. Just plug in the headphones, select the filter, and start talking. If your headphone volume is sufficiently loud, it will block out your voice. The effect is that it really feels like you’re Darth Vader, or a robot, or an idiot. That last one is really one of the filters: the idiot setting adds a confusing delay and reverb effect, so that as you speak it’s hard to keep track of what you’re saying. You’ll wind up tripping all over your words like, you guessed it, a total moron. But arguably anyone caught talking to themselves while swiping randomly at their iPhone will look a little bit like an idiot.
