Thursday, February 10th, 2011

An official BBC iPlayer application is one which has been expected for a while, and now, finally, it has launched inside the UK’s App Store.  Specifically for the iPad, the app allows streaming of all iPlayer content, but only over Wi-Fi and not 3G, so any dreams of wandering around the streets watching Eastenders have

Verizon iPhone Won’t Be Curing iPhone 4 Antenna Problems?

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

When the Verizon iPhone 4 appeared with its slightly redesigned antenna, there were reports this would cure the antenna problems that plagued the GSM iPhone 4, however iLounge have discovered that this isn’t the case, at least with their test phone. Racing Apex Still Looks Great, Still Coming Soon

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

We’ve been watching developers Lucky Mountain Games’ website for a while, hoping for an update on their cool racer Racing Apex, however as the calendar clicked over to 2011, that update still hadn’t come.  We dropped an email to Lucky Mountain earlier this week and were pleased to hear that the game is still being

DoodleBoy – The Violence Park: Battle Legions of Clowns and Zombies

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

The name this game— DoodleBoy – The Violence Park —really tells you everything you need to know. This game is really, really violent. The name also tells you that this game belongs in the ever-growing list of doodle-themed games for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Other doodle games include Doodle Army and the immensely popular Doodle Jump . Though all of these games are by different developers, they share a common aesthetic—they all look like they were hastily scribbled on a sheet of graph paper. DoodleBoy – The Violence Park doesn’t really stick to that premise, however. Once you’re in full-blown game play, the blood-soaked look more closely resembles a gory cult flash cartoon than the innocent sketches of a bored schoolchild. The look of it even occasionally has a taste of South Park. The object of the game is to control the DoodleBoy as he shoots and stabs his way through The Violence Park , a theme park (or maybe mountain range? haunted neighborhood?) that is filled with clowns with knives, grim reapers with scythes, and zombies that for some reason also have knives. Table Topics App Keeps the Conversation Flowing Wherever You Go

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

If you need a little help getting conversation started during your next dinner party, date night or even lunch with co-workers, then Table Topics mobile may be the answer. Based on the physical Table Topics “cube,” a collection of conversation starter cards, this app lets you take two sets of 60 questions to prompt conversation with you wherever you go. Table Topics comes with a starter set and the Happy Hour set for a total of 120 unique questions. Most of the questions are geared towards anybody, but a few are more age-appropriate for adults. None are particularly provocative, so you don’t have to worry about your audience. In fact, most are just really good prompts to keep conversation flowing. Examples are “What do you wish you were better at saying no to?” and “Which mystery or unsolved case would you like to know the truth about?”. If you do happen upon a question you don’t want asked, just move it the “hidden questions” tab and it won’t come up again. Take and Sync Notes with Notability for iPad

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Notability is an excellent note-taking tool for the iPad. Notability nails the balance between apps that favor creating typed notes or hand-written ones. While it is primarily designed for using the iPad’s on-screen keyboard, there is a very-easy-to-use way with Notability to merge drawings, illustrations, or other graphics. The interface is well designed for solid maneuverability and, like many iPad/iPhone apps, has a design that harkens back to Notability’s pre-digital counterpart, a notebook. In landscape mode notes can easily be selected through the familiar side-anchored menu. If you want to record while taking notes, just tap the red button for including voice. In all a note could include text, audio, and an image for a very dynamic alternative to the usual text-based messaging applications.
