Knowledge Trainer is Your Personal Quiz Show

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Knowledge Trainer is like challenging yourself to a round of Jeopardy. The app quizzes you on various topics with the goal of improving your knowledge base. Knowledge Trainer’s subject matter covers a diverse group, such as history, film, science, sports, social science, arts and letters, and geography. Questions are grouped into a series of lessons, with each lesson challenging the player with 10 questions from each of the 10 different categories. Answering a question correctly raises your “KQ.” The better your performance, the more demanding the questions. For any you misstep, you have the opportunity of going back and answering them correctly if you want to learn that information, though it will not boost your score. MOBiLE CLOTH iPhone/iPad Accessory Review

I’m not going to hide it, I love microfiber cloths.  There is a bag in our utility room full of various sized microfiber cloths, mitts and pads, all of which are used when I clean my car, then washed ready for the next time.  They’re perfect for this task due to their ability to retain

Climb, Jump, and Fight Your Way to the Top in NinJump Deluxe

Monday, January 17th, 2011

NinJump Deluxe is in a class of games that owes its existence to the iPhone, games that can only be played with a screen held in portrait mode. We’ll call them “vertical platformers.” In this type of game, the player must move the character upward, not forward. Increasingly tough obstacles will be encountered, and the player’s high score is determined by how long he or she can keep the action going. The most successful vertical platformer is probably Doodle Jump . NinJump Deluxe does the genre proud. It is fast-paced, easy to pick up, and plenty addictive. NinJump Deluxe is the follow-up to the original NinJump , and this time there are three levels instead of only one. In addition to the original “Classic” level that feels like a cartoon 19th-century Tokyo, players can now try to navigate the eponymous ninja through a jungle and even a pirate ship. Monday, January 17th, 2011

When an iPhone 4 case is advertised as being the ‘world’s thinnest’, and a measurement of a mere 0.5mm is given to support that claim; can it really be deemed as offering anything other than nominal scratch protection and a pretty shell?  The CAZE Zero 5 is just such a case. Available in grey, pink, black,

Measure Faraway Objects with SpectaRuler

Friday, January 14th, 2011

SpectaRuler is a very clever utility that allows the user to measure the distance, height, and elevation of objects. How is this possible without actually walking up to the object with a massive tape measure? Through a combination of the iPhone’s camera, accelerometer, touch-screen display, and the addition of a little triangulation (and other difficult math type stuff) SpectaRuler is able to make estimates that are apparently pretty accurate. The way to use the app is very particular– and a little surprising– so it’s very important to configure SpectaRuler properly and read through all the instructions before you begin. In a nutshell, this means configuring the accelerometer and telling the app what size shoe you wear. That’s right: your shoes are of the utmost importance. Rumors that The Daily, the iPad push newspaper, would be launching on the 19th January have been halted, as news of a delay gets confirmed by parent company News Corp.  The launch was indeed set for that date, or one very close to it, however problems with the iTunes subscription service have made it impossible
