Travel Interpreter an Excellent Translation Tool

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Travel Interpreter adds to the arsenal of apps for international travel with access to many of the key phrases one may need. Most likely the language you are looking for will be here, as choices include Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, Italian and Hebrew (23 in total). After selecting a language the categories are then divided by specific topics; such as hotel, shopping or beauty care. There is even a section detailing how to call the police and describe particular crimes. After picking a category there are sub-categories that get a bit more specific. After selecting one of these, tap on a phrase. Travel Interpreter includes audio of the phrase, an illustration of its meaning and the text (for some languages, such as Arabic, it is also written in phonetic English). Dots for Tots – On the Go Connect the Dots Fun

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

The other day I was having lunch with friends who also happened to be parents of small children. While waiting for what seemed like an extraodinarily long time, I found myself whipping out my iPhone in an attempt to entertain the four-year-old munchkin beside me. Google Earth, Facebook, and Sporcle wasn’t exactly going  to do the trick, but since my own kids are far beyond preschool games, my library was a bit understocked at the time. It is times such as this that apps like Dots for Tots come in very handy indeed. From the makers of Color Me!!, which incidentally I enjoyed and tested out on the same four-year-old munchkin, Dots for Tots is a collection of simple dot-to-dot pages that include numbers, letters, shapes, and animals. Using the numbers 1 – 10 and the touchscreen interface of the iPhone, little fingers can trace and connect the dots to form the image. Granted, they have to be able to recognize numbers and know numerical order, but if they’ve mastered that skill, then you’re golden.(…) Read the rest of Dots for Tots – On the Go Connect the Dots Fun All App Reviews © AppCraver.com, 2010. | Dots for Tots – On the Go Connect the Dots Fun | Best iPad Apps | Best Free Apps

Apple Bank Billions During Q3

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Last night, Apple hosted a conference call to disclose their Q3 figures, from sales to revenue to profit.  Now, if the thought that this wouldn’t be a good three months for the company entered your head, then you haven’t been paying attention, as it includes a stack of iPad sales and the first set of

GetGlue is Social Networking for Media Addicts

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

When I first came across GetGlue I thought, “Just what I need, another social network.” The last thing I wanted to do was open another social networking app from my iPhone and check in, “like” things and earn rewards. However, GetGlue can easily win one over with its addictive way to rate and review entertainment and lifestyle content. GetGlue works much like Foursquare by “checking in” to topics. But instead of locations you choose among movies, TV shows, music, books, video games, celebrities and, oddly enough, wine. Checkins earn stickers, again similar to the badges found on Foursquare. However, one nice perk GetGlue offers is once you earn seven stickers there is an opportunity to receive physical stickers. And honestly, who doesn’t like stickers? Along with checkins you can “like” and rate favorite content. Check in to a particular item enough times and you can become the Guru. This makes you the resident expert and provides ability to lead discussions on that site’s page.
