Apple putting iPads in the hands of reviewers by the end of the week

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

According to a report by Silicon Alley Insider, Apple is planning on shipping iPads to prominent tech reviewers by the end of the week. Even thought Apple has not released a definite list of who these lucky tech reviewers are, I think it’s safe to say that more accredited reviewers such as Walt Mossberg of the

Digg to release iPhone app tomorrow? (Finally)

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Being an avid Digg user as well as an avid iPhone user,  I have long awaited the release of a Digg app for the iPhone. Now, don’t get me wrong, Digg’s iPhone-optimized site is pretty easy to use, but it definitely doesn’t stack up to an app devoted solely to “Digging.” For those of you unfamiliar

Monster RPG 2: Good Game, but not Quite Ready for Battle

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Monster RPG 2 seeks to bring retro, role-playing style to your iPhone. The atmosphere for the game is great and really captures the spirit of older video games. But too many interface issues keep this from being a true hit. The plot of the game is pretty much standard RPG stuff: you must take a simple villager, equip her with weapons, magic, and some fancy combat moves in order to save the world. You battle other monsters, animals, magicians, and a whole slew of characters. The combat takes place in the classic RPG style, where you take turns trying to slug one another to death with your arsenal, taking the occasional breather to heal yourself. The challenge for Monster RPG 2 was to create an app that had the graphics and interface of an older game, yet worked with the touch-screen capabilities of the iPhone. In one sense they succeeded, because Monster RPG will have you reaching for a joystick once it pops on screen. However, using the touch screen on the game was very haphazard and consistent. There is a method for switching to a virtual control pad, but even that process involves some bugs.(…) Read the rest of Monster RPG 2: Good Game, but not Quite Ready for Battle © AppCraver , 2010. | Monster RPG 2: Good Game, but not Quite Ready for Battle | Get our iPhone Reviews on Facebook & Twitter !

Wild West Checkers – Same Game, Different Theme

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Wild West Checkers is a slingshot-style checkers game where players attempt to shoot their opponents checkers off the board without losing any of their own. The second such iPhone app I’ve come across with the same principle, and coincidentally the same seller, Wild West Checkers is similar to iChapaev , but sports a wild west cowboy and Indian theme and a price tag of 2 dollars higher. Like iChapaev, Wild West Checkers uses the touch screen interface and displays the trajectory angle and strength of your shot. By aiming your checker at an opponent piece, the goal is to knock the opposing piece off the board without shooting your own piece off screen and maintain control of the board. If your piece also shoots off the board, your turn is over. If you can run the board and advance your line of checkers to the top row, you win. When reviewing iChapaev, I learned that this form of checkers was supposedly fashioned after a Russian board game. If so, Wild West Checkers gives the game quite the western touch indeed with the whole cowboys versus Indians theme. App Review: Paintingwalls – Simple To Use & Decide Your Wall Color

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Have you ever regretted your decision on your bedroom color after putting painstaking effort to paint it over your nice weekend? If the answer is ‘yes’ or even ‘no’, you better have a look the iPhone/iPod touch app Paintingwalls from Enginy Studios and you can buy it for $0.99 from App Store. Paintingwalls is a very simple app that lets you digitally paint your room’s wall picture and decide the color of your choice before you actually jump in painting. It won’t take much effort to take a photo of your room or choose a photo from the album and choose a color you have in your mind from the catalogue, dab and spread it on the wall. Once you painted the photo decide if that color suits your taste and room’s ambiance. The interface looks very nice and intuitive. You can pick your favorite color from the color catalogue tab with few swipes. You can fix the color, undo the last pinting tap and reset to the original image in the tools tab. Set the image’s illumination with better lighing effect from the third tab. Also you will have a bunch of options in the fourth and the last tap on the tap bar. Here you can save the picture, pick a new picture, send it by email or share it on Facebook. Not only these options, you can upload the painted image into Twitpic too. There are few apps that have detailed help documents for the app. Paintingwalls belongs to that group. If you have any doubt on how to use and what to use, you can refer these topics in the Help menu. Price: $0.99 Compatible With: iPhone and iPod touch Required OS Version: iPhone OS 3.0.1 or later Download Link: iTunes Developer Website: Enginy Studios

SimCity Deluxe Coming Soon

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

It has been more than a year since SimCity became available on the iPhone.  A glorious looking and extremely faithful conversion, the game was as close as one could expect a handheld SimCity 3000 to be.  It wasn’t without its problems, being painfully slow on occasion and blessed with a flawed UI to name two,

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

We all knew that Opera had been working on a version of Opera Mini for the iPhone, of course, the big question was whether or not it would be approved. Unfortunately we do not yet have an answer to that question, but we should, or at least we hope to soon. According to a recent report

Make Someone Happy, Give Then an iPhone App

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Although iTunes users have been able to give music and video gifts for sometime, the ability to do the same in the App Store was never added.  This week however, if you drop down the menu next to the price of your chosen app, the first option that now greets you is ‘Gift this App’. Selecting

Vaja announces new lineup of iPad cases

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Accessories, at least for some people are just as important as the device. Me personally, I like a good case. That said, I have yet to decide how I am going to protect my iPad, but it seems that each day I spend trying to decide my decision is made harder with more options. And
